(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Raed Fattouh said he was informed that Israel cleared 190 truckloads of commercial and humanitarian goods for entry.
Permitted to enter were 13 truckloads are cement and iron for reconstruction projects sponsored by UNRWA, three truckloads of cement for a building project being overseen by the German Development Bank, and six truckloads of cement and iron for reconstruction funded and overseen by USAID.
Importing cement for civilians and private projects is prohibited, even as hundreds of homes destroyed during the 2008-9 offensive on Gaza, Operation Cast Lead, remain in ruins. Government infrastructure, targeted by Israeli airstrikes during the violence, has been repaired by recycled cerement and mud brick.
The same crossing was also prepared to receive limited quantities of domestic gas, and would export two truckloads of flowers grown under a Dutch government project to support Gaza's crumbled farming industry.
Crossing activity on Monday was below expectations, Fattouh said, with 131 loads of goods entering via Kerem Shalom crossing, short of the 140 expected.
At the bulk goods crossing in the northern West Bank, Fattouh said 129 loads of wheat and fodder were imported, short of the 135 expected.
